Ladies and gentlemen,— At the" request of a number of Ratepayers, I offer my services to you as your Repr. & a f.itive in the County Council. On account of the enormous increase in rates, which lias in some cases trebled during the last two or three, years, the present Council having raised the rate from threefarthings to virtually three halfpence, ail'd'the valuation of property having been increased within the last three years from 20 and in some cases up to 7-j per cent, the rate has gone up to what I consider a small rent. And I do not think it necessary to., raise such a large rate to ‘keep the roads and drains in this riding in sufficient repair, as I think with judicious and careful expenditure the rates could be considerably reduced. I must say if returned I will try to do justice to all parts of the riding. Yours sincerely, C. J. PARKER. COOK COUNTY COUNCIL. TRIENNIAL ELECTION. TOLOGA RIDING.
