The U.S.S. Co.’s Squall completed er discharge and sailed for Auckland very early yesterday morning. The U.S.S. Co.’s Monowai arrives from. South this monring, and sails later for Auckland: The Tuaten leaves the wharf at 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. The Huddart-Parker Co.’s Victoria arrives from Auckland this afternoon and continues her voyage South in the evening. Outward passengers leave the wharf at 7 p.m. The U.S.S. Co.’s Flora, wihch is replacing the s.s. Haupiri on the 'Coast run, is due here early next week from South. Messrs Richardson and Co.’s Ruru is due to arrive this morning from Napier, with general cargo. On discharge it is probable she may sail for Tokomaru with a load of timber. The scow Alert is due from Ngunguru early with a full cargo of Northern coal for the Sheepfarmers’ Frozen Meat Co., and on discharge returns to Auckland direct. The scow Kia Ora, the ketch Coronation, and the auxiliary eshooner Kaeo are due any day from northern ports. The N.Z. Steamship Co.’s Rimutaka left Plymouth on Saturday for Wellington, via Capetown and Hobart. BY TELEGRAPH. NEWCASTLE, Nov. 3. Arrived- —Beckenham, from Auckland. Sailed—Victoria (4 p.m.), for Gisborne. PORT AHURIRI, Nov. 3. To Sail —Rum for Gisborne. THE BARQUE FIFESHIRE. A cable message received from Sydney last night- states that the Court of Inquiry into the loss of the barque Fifeshire at- the' Gilbert Islands found that the wreck had been caused by the gross negligence and reckless navigation of the master, John Nichol, in taking tlio ship into a position he knew" to he dangerous. The Court also found that Stephen Rowe, first officer of the Fife-shire, was a man who ought not to be permitted to have charge of a ship owing to his drunken habits, and called upon both to show cause why their certificates should not be cancelled. The Fifeshire was insured for £6ooo'.
