THE HIGH COMMISSIONER’S MESSAGE.

■ WELLINGTON, Nov. 2. The High Commissioner’s cable datted London, October 31, states: The muttoiii market- is very dull, but New Zealand holders are firm, as the stock is moderate: There is no change in- prices to report. The lamb market is quiet, with less demand and no change in prices. The beef market is quiet, but firm. Hindquarters are quoted at 3£d, and forequarters at-3id. The -butter market is very firm, with an increasing demand for better grades. Quotations are:NeAV Zealand 1265, Danish 131 s, Russian 113 s, Australian 1235, Argentine 123 s per cwt. The cheese market is very firm, Avith more enquiry. Canadian makes -are quoted at 61s. The hemp market continues dull 1 , and there is poor local demand, Avith fcio change in pirces. Lust Aveek’s output from Manila amounted* to 29,000 bales. N
The cocksfoot seed market, is very duß, and to push sales lower prices would have to be accepted!. Bright clear 171 b seed is quoted at 83s nominal. The hop market is quiet, except for finest English, which arc getting very scarce and are quoted at 70s. American hops are quoted at 45©. PRODUCE AIARRETS. AlessrsF. S. Alaloolm and Co., auctioneers, report the following prices realised at their produce sales' on,Saturday : —(Spring chickens ,8d to lid, hen© and roosters 2s 6d, butter 10d to lid per lb, eggs lid to Is doz, carrots and parsnis 5s sack, onions 2d lb, best Up-to-Date potatoes 10s 6d sack. A successful sate of furniture, was also held.
