ADVERTISING GISBORNE.
A COMPLIMENTARY LETTER.
Some few months ago an. article appeared in this journal entitled A Trip to New Zealand,” S iv . ln S some particulars of the (manner m which, by means of popular 'illustrated lectures, the New Zealand I ' Shipping Go ’ wus bringing before the public a,t Home the advantages which this Dominion offered to the hard-working emigrant. On the same date,_in our leading columns, we suggested that it would he to the advantage of this town W'ere some views of Gisborne ■and the 'surrounding districts to be included in the series being reproduced at Home by the Shipping Company. The suggestion has evidently borno fruit, as will be shown by a letter from the general (manager of the New. Zealand Shipping Company (Mr: Isaac Gibbs) to the local agent (Mr, R. G. ILallamore), who kindly (hnnded it on to us for publication. The letter is as follows: —“By last mail we received 1 , a letter from our London office, dated iyh September, in which our manager states that they have received the various newspapers ■containing reports of lust year s series of lectures, which they have read with interest, especially the article entitled '‘Advertising the Dominion.” in the “Gisborne Times” of June 16th. , Our London manager states it is intended to include a few pictures of Gisborne and districts in -their next series of lectures, and we shall he glad if you will l inform ill 6 editor of the “Gisborne Times” that his suggestion in that direction, has been given, effect to.”
