TVT OTICE is hereby given that this Xl Council will proceed, on MOJNDAY, 26tli October, 1908, to make aud levy a General Rate of Five Farthings in the £1 on the ratable value of all ratable property in the several Ridings of the County, for the period commenced on the Ist April, 1908, and ending on the 31st March, 1909. The rate to be due and payable in one sum on the 2nd November, 1908. NOTICE is also given that the Council will, on the same date, make and levy a Charitable Aid Rate, of One-ninth of a Penny in the £l, on the ratable value of all ratable property within the County, for the period commenced on the Ist April, 1908, and ending on the 31st March, 1909j to. be due and payable with the General Rate. NOTICE is hereby given that this Council proposes to raise a Loan under the Local Bodies Loans Act, 1901, and .its amendments. The work to bo undertaken is the construction of a Public Tramway on the main road from the Borough of Gisborne at Lytton Road, to Section 81, Block 111., Patutahi Survey District, and also with the consent of the Gisborne Borough Council (now obtained) from the Lytton Road by way of the road through Wai-o-lii-harore Block, to the eastern end of Awapuni Road in the said Borough. The length of tramway to be constructed is 13 miles or thereby. The gauge is to be 2 feet 6 inches. The motive power.to be steam. It is proposed to carry road metal for the Gisborne Borough Council at a rate not exceeding 3s per yard. It is also proposed to carry all road metal from the Patutahi Quarry that is required for the principal roads in Arai, Patutahi, Gisborne, arid Whataupoko Ridings. It is alsoi proposed to carry goods and passengers at a rate to be hereafter fixed, with approved stoppingplaces for delivery on route. The sum proposed-to be borrowed is £27,000 for the construction of the tramway, building of stations and platforms, and purchase of such land as may be required for turning places, goods sheds, and other necessary appliances. The security to be given is the revenue from, the carriage of goods and passengers and road metal, and a special rate of one-eighth of a penny in the £ upon the ratable valuation of all ratable property in the Aral, Patutahi, Hangaroa, Gisborne, and Whataupoko Ridings of the County of Cook, for a iieriod of 36 years. It is proposed to apply, the net revenue from the tramway in payment of interest and sinking fund before collecting any part of the special rate. The estimated deficiency is £3OO per annum, or equal to one-six-teenth of a penny in the £ in the special district. . It is proposed to make a sinking fund of one per cent per annum for 36 yearsIt is proposed to pay the cost ot raising the loan, and the interest for one vear out of the loan moneys.
