THE OPPOSITION CANDIDATE [Si-iiciAL to “Times.”] OPOTIKI, October 12.
Mr. Gow returned, to-day from Kotorua, where he addressed a large and appreciative audience. He is to ■address the Opotiki electors at an early date. His prospects are bright and encouraging.
THE BANGITIKEI SEAT,
[Pbess Association.] TAIHAPE, October 12. Mr. 11. W. Smith, independent Liberal candidate for Kangitikei, opened, the campaign. He stated that whilo Liberal m tendency, he would not follow party leaders on a question where he yield decided views. He was a freeholder, and opposed to local option, but if it. was made a Dominion vote, affecting the whole colony, lie would be inclined to try no-license.
