-TIIO New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report on the stock sales held on Thursday, Bth inst. :—The attendance was below the average, and the safe a dull and . dragging one right' through. There must lie abundance of feed in the country, and the lack of demand and fall in values must be attributed to the present position and future uncertainty of the wool market, and the continued financial pressure. There is no immediate prospect of this cloud lifting, and,\ it certainly spells public and private economy in capital letters.

Cattle.—-A heavy yarding came forward. We yarded.sls and sold 235. Steers were not in as good demand as at last- sale, and heifers and female stock generally were neglected. Our next sale will he held on Thursday, 22nd inst. ■ We have a considerable quantity of useful lines of both sheep and cattle, and trust 'that sellers’ and buyers’ ideas of value may more closely approximate and thus enable business to be done. It appears that the position of ea. lower range of values must he faced meantime.
