CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 8. Dr. Thacker, a candidate for the Lyttelton- seat, addressed a meeting of electors last night. He stated he would support the present Government just so far as it kept its present high level of administration and gave effect to parliamentary and local government reforms and reforms relating to food supply, education, labor, and defence, tic was accorded a vote of thanks.

AVELLINGTON, October S. . Mr. F. H. Haseklen, who lias been asked to contest the Ohinemuri seat in the Opposition interest against Air. Poland and others, has consented to do so. Mr. Hoselde-n has been previouslv in Parliament. He is a brother of District Judge Haselden. He has had colonial experience as a miner and a settler, and is at present farming at Awliitu. Air. Poland, AI.P., is the Government- candidate for the scat.
