ARRANGEMENTS FOR OPENING
A meeting of the Executive Committee appointed in connect ions,with the opening of the new Garrison Hall was held last night. It was decided that, owing to the steamer arrangements not being suitable for the convenience of visitors from Wellington, the opening ball will be held on Tuesday night, October 28th, instead ot Wednesday as previously arranged. The various sub-committees appointed presented satisfactory reports, and it was also decided that px children’s night be held on the Wednesday night. To this function all children and their parents will be admitted for Is, .and other adults for 2s Gd. Adults will not bo allowed to dance until 10 p.m. It was resolved that the City B ind be asked to supply the music for thq. opening night, and tlie Federal Band for the second night. Veterans of the Maori war and Imperial veterans are to be invited to the opening night’s entertainment, and it is also proposed to have an opening ceremony, details of which have not yet been arranged, hut will be published later.
