FIRE BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING,
A meeting of tlio Gisborno Firo Board was-hold at t-lie Borough Council offices yesterday, afternoon. There wore present: Mr. J. Townley (chairman), Messrs W. Pettio, J. Coleman, A. F. Kennedy,- and J. "W. Bright. Tlio Chairman reported that the plant at the Fire Station had been valued by the assessors at £1423 14s Gd, but the valuation included that ot gome of the plant not owned by t-lio Borough Council. When the value of that plant was deducted the net valuation of the Council’s jiroporty would be £ll3B. The Chairman was authorised to ash the valuators ' for an amen led valuation.
The Borough Council sent a iormal objection to the Board acquiring the present site of the Fire Station, and asked the Board to confer with the Council on the question of selecting another .site. Tim Chairman said that the <■ ito was most -useful and central as a position for a firo station, and he could not see what reason the Council could have to the Board acquiring it. ■Tlie.. opinion was expressed that there was no reason tor any conflict between tlie Board and the Council on the question, and the Chairman, and Messrs Kennedy and Coleman were appointed to confer with the Council.
