(To the Editor.) yir,—It is little wonder that “Quid Nunc” is annoyed with the No-Li-cense Tarty foil appropriating evidence from a- neutral source ns it comes “as welcome evidence of the truth of what they assort.” They don’t even stop at noutral evidence but draw their strongest arguments from those, directly opposed to them and point to the fruits of ‘the trade’ as the best reason for voting no-li-cense. The great point that condemns the open bar system is that it does not prevent consumption of liquor in .large quantities in those distracts where it exists, vide Gisborne. Many people would rather have a bottle'of whisky, or oven a two gallon jar, in their homes than a drunk man. Perhaps so would “Quid Nunc" if it had been his lot to bo a married woman. Bottles of spirits have been kept in many houses for rears without doing any particular harm. It is evident from “Quid Xu no’s” letter that ho has never had liquor in his house; might I recommend him, just by way of experiment, to get a bottle, put in a sale place, and note effect. —I am, etc.,
