LONDON MARKETS. [Press Association.] ■WELLINGTON, Sept. 21. The High Commissioner’s cable, dated London, September 19tli, states: The trade for all classes of mutton has been very slow, and prices aro barely maintained. The tendency of tho market scorns to bo to decline. River Plate mutton is in largo supply, and is quoted at 3Jd. Canterbury mutton is at 4sd, North Island 3 )d. The lamb market is dull, except for light weights. Canterbury is at o]d, other than Canterbury sd. Tho beef market is steady. Hindquarters are quoted at 4§-d, forequarters 3]d. The butter market is firm, with an improved demand for best quality, the supply of which is running short. Following |are current quotations: Choicest New Zealand 116 s, Argentine (this season’s) 116 s, Danish 123 s per cwt. Tlio cheese market is quiet, hut steady. Canadian brands are quoted at 61s per cwt.
The hemp market, is lifeless, and there'is no change in prices to report. Last week’s output from Manda amounted to 21,000 bales. The wool market is quiet, with a tendency in favor of buyers. Following are current quotations for Bradford tops: Thirty-sixes (low crossbreds) 93d, forties (low crossbreds) IOUI, forty-fours (medium crossbreds) 11-jd, fifties i(halfbreds) Is 3]d, .fiftysixes (qnarter-breds) Is 4d, sixties (merinos) Is lid. There -is no alteration in tlio cocksfoot seed market since last week. Bright, clean 171 b seed, last season’s, is quoted at 75s per cwt.
