A very hard contested game wa.> won by the Bible Class by 3 points t 0 nil. Mr. Al. Osborne was referee. REPRESENTATIVE MATCH. OTAGO DEFEATS WELLINGTON. [Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Sept. ID. Easily the best. Rugby game seen in Wellington this season was played on tbo Atlieltic Park this afternoon before a crowd of B,(XK) spectators, 'who were moved to the highest pitch of enthusiasm by the play. Playing with a strong wind in their favor in tire first spell, Wellington put up 8 paints, two penalty goals by Mitchiason and a try by Evensbn, butit was evident that Otago still had a' good ileal of energy in reserve. This was pro veil in the second half, as the Blues ran up ll points in the first, seven minutes, Casey, Ron, and Ivimey scoring tries, one of which Patterson converted. Wellington played up for a little, but Patterson landed a wonderful goal from a mark, bringing the total to 14. Wellington then got; away', and Ready scored, 14 —12. Fitzpatrick' next scored . a try for Otago, 17—12. With two minutes to go, Wellington got away, and Mitehinson rsuv over half the ground land scored. Roberts’ kick just -filled, and the game ended: Otago 17, Wellington 15‘. Air. Angus Campbell refereed. THE BRITISH TOUR. THE FINANCIAL RESULTS. [Press Association.] WELLINGTON. Sept. 20. The financial results of the recent tour in New Zealand and Australia of the British football team are now known approximately. The total receipts from all matches played in New Zealand were £11.400, and the expenses £11,600. involving roughly a loss of £2OO. The Australian part of the tour, with nine matches, brought a profit to the New Zealand Rugby Union of about £I2OO. The total profit of the whole tour is thus about.£ 1000. which will be distributed nmougst the various district unions affiliated to the central 'body. GOLF. Ideal weather prevailed on Saturday aiternoon, and a large number of players were out on the links. Though there was nothing down on the official programme, a bogey competition was arranged and produced an interesting afternoon’s play. Players were handicapped on tournament strength, and Geoff. Willock won the competition. He played very consistently, and with a handicap of 5. finished up with the fine record of 2 down. Thy next best cards handed in were:—l. H. W. Traill (scr.) 5 down; J. Howie (1(1) 5 down : L. T. Brown (20) 6 down; G. AI. Dodshun (5) 7 down; G. Grant (10) 7 down: W. B. Willock (9) 9 down; Rex Willock (14)-11 down. There was a large number of lady placets out on- the links. Afternoon tea’ was provided by Mesdames Parker and Mann. G. M. Dodshun will be a valuable acquisition to the club. His handicap in Wanganui was three, and he proved that he is a player of a good deal more than average ability, by going round the local course for the first, time in 97. On Saturdav next the last fixture on the official programme will be played off. This takes the form of a mixed foursome, and there is certain to be a large number of entries. Players wishing to take part in the foursome should forward their names as earlv as possible to the lion, secretary of the club, Air. J. M. Curtis. LADIES’ CLUB. The Gisborne Ladies Golf Club placed a Bogey match on Friday afternoon for it prize donated by Miss Redstone. The match was won by Aire. Cole, 1 up. ; The first round for the Ladies Golf Union medal —an 18-hole course —was played during the week. The following were the best cards:
