There lias been Jimicli damage done to shipping and the telegraph lines. The sailer Amazon, laden with coal, lias been wrecked at Swansea Bay. Twenty out the crew of twenty-eight were drowned. Tho desperate struggles of the men to save themselves were watched by thousands ashore, who were unable to render any help. There have been heavy storms in the Channel, causing many wrecks, with exciting rescues. The excursion steamer Queen, with 160 passengers, broke her steering gear and grounded on a sand bank at Selsoy Bell, seas sweeping the decks. Lifebelts were served out to eight women and three children, who were thrown into a life-boatman’s arms at midnight. The men were rescued in tho morning.
