BURNS BEATS LANG.
A SIX-ROUND FIGHT.

MELBOURNE, Sept. 3. there was a large attendance to see Lang meet. Burns, and before the fight commenced Squires challenged the winner.
Tlie first round was uneventful, but m the second round Lang met. Burns with a straight blow on the chin that sent, the champion down for nine seconds, tho round ending in favor of Lang.
At. the end of the third round Lang looked tired, and Burns was keeping continually <>n the move. Iho fourth round -field a lot of trouble for Lang, and lie was sent down twice in succession. Burns’ infighting was too much for the Victorian.
In the fifth round Lang received a senes of quick left-hand jabs. Then Burns dropped him for five seconds, •and shortly after floored him foreight seconds. Coming out of a quick exchange Burns slipped and was down for a couple.of seconds, but he found tiling’s chin with a heavy right, and his opponent was prone for four seconds, when the round closed. In the sixth round Burns hid Lang dancing round the ring. He then cornered him, and planted a series of left-hand jabs on the face and body. Twice in succession Burns dropped him, the first for eight- seconds, and the second for nine seconds, the latter punch sending Lang through tho ropes. Burns was “kidding” Lang, and letting him land him on the face. Finally tho champion rushed his mail across the ring. He feinted with his left, and sent a heavy -right- across which landed on the jaw and knocked Lang clean out, when the round had_ tell seconds to go. When Lang was taken to the corner he was cut and bleeding. (Received September 3, 11 p.m.) . Lang was thoroughly exhausted in the sixth round, and got up feebly after the second knock down. Burns dropped liis hinds and let him hit him on the face several times. Then the champion tapped Lang sharply on the point and ended tho fight.
