INSOLVENCY.
The Deputy-Official. Assignee (Air. J. Coleman) has received tlio follow•i'ng statement from Charles Kernot, I bootmaker, now bankrupt:—“About’ live years ago i. started in business lit Gisborne ns a bootmaker, and somo fifteen months ago entered into partnership with Air. J. L. Davy. This partnership was dissolved by mutual consent about six months ago. Owing to tlio change of account of my principal customer my trade considerably fell off during the past six months. Several of my creditors have pressed me for payment, one of them putting in an (execution. 1 have endeavored to pay my way, but with the slackness in trade and general business depression, regret that 1 have been unable to do so. A distress warrant having been put in, 1 consulted my solicitor, who advised me in justice to my other creditors to file. At present I am unable to make an offer.” 'Hie unsecured creditors are: Clayton Bros. £3B, T G. Lawless £l3, Stewart Hastie Cl2, \V. Bruce (Wa-io-j,ika) £9, Morris and Co. (Tologa Ray) £], Nash and Co. ( Wellington) £23 total 90. The assets are:Stock-in-trade £.15, hook debts £2B (estimated to produce £l4), total £29, leaving a deficiency of £C7.
