[Correspondence on public matters is welcomed at all timos, but it must bo distinctly understood that tins journal is in no way associated wnn tho opinions of its correspondents.J THE CONSUMPTION OF BEER MISLIEPUI RENTED.

[To the Editor.] Sir —In your issue of August AJin Inst the Rev. T. Fee, at the no-hcCnso mooting, held tho previous evening, is reported to have said: “In the year of, 1905 under live million gallons of beor was consumed m the Dominion and in 1900 over eight million gallons was sent out of tho Dominion.” Mr Fee’s ;idou was evidently to alarm tho populace by suggesting an increase m drinking of moro than three million gallons in one year. Now wlnit arc the facts? If ‘Mr Fee will refer to tho current issue of tho “New Zealand Official Year Book” lie will find that instead of five millions for 1905 the actual number of gallons of beer consumed was over eight millions (to bo exact 8,014,430.) This disposes cl tlie rovorond gentleman’s suggestion of an alarming increase, anil I can only tako it as another example of the “No-Liccnso” Party’s misrepresentations. —I am, etc., “ANTI-PROHIBITIONIST.”
