HOCKEY.

THE WAPITI CLUB,

Tho members of the Wapiti Ladies’ Club, with friends, were taken for a drive into tho country yesterday by Mr. F. Hall. Two largo brakes left town at 10.30 a.m., ana Ormond was reached soon after mid-day. A substantial lunch had been prepared by mine host of the Ormond Hotel, Mr. C. Neenan, and, appetites having been whetted by the. drive, the meal was keenly relished. A couple of hours were then spent in exploring the beauties of Ormond, and the return journey was commenced at 3.30 p.m., Gisborne being reached shortly before 5. Mr. Hall afterwards entertained the visitors at tea at the Masonic Hotel.

The Wapiti ladies left by the s-s. Wimmera for homo last night, and were farewelled on the wharf by a large crowd of hockey enthusiasts, many of whom also went out to the boat.

TO-DAY’S MATCHES,

This afternoon on Victoria Domain City and West End will meet at 2 p.m., and at 3 To Rau and Kia Kaha will play. The following are the teams:

City.—Martin, Doyle, Bull, Dawson, Day, Morris, Smith, Doyle, Friar, Knitts, .and Buscke. West End. —Monk, Buscke, Olsen, Sim, Roderick, Tarr, McLaehlan, Malloy, Payne, Nasmith, and Hooper. Te Ran.—Hakiwai, Hamilton, Munro, Row.ai, Edwards, Clark, Cockerill, Davy, Brown, Baker, and Pine. Kia Ka’ha. —Pettie, McLean, Garrett, Coleman, Grant, Semple, Pollock, Bright, Whitmore, Tahernaclo, and Grieve.

Mr. Willis (Wanganui) will have charge of the first game, and Mr. W. Lewis will control the second.

The High School girls’ team arrived home yesterday morning after a splendid trip. They will play a match on Victoria Domain this afternoon against the Gisborne Ladies’ Club, the game commencing at 2 o’clock sharp. DIANAWATU BEATS DANNEVIRKE.
