Co.’s AYainka is expected to arrive to-morrow morning from South, and leaves later for Auckland. The following notice to mariners has boon issued by the New Zealand M trine Department:—Extension of shoal and alteration of buoy in Tauranga Harbor: Notice is hereby given that the shoal off tho turningpoint from tho Stoll v Passage to the Katikati, locally knov a as Sulphur Point Spit, has' extended to the northward and in consequence tho No. 1 red buoy of Stella Passage Ins been moved 300 ft in a north-by-east direction, and now lies in 10ft at low water, springs. This change in the buoy’s position narrows the Stella channel, as marked by No. 1 black and No. 1 red buoys. These two buoys are now nearly abreast of each other, and 500 ft apart. A T essols working Faulkner’s channel into the Katikati can now steer across the spit extension from the buoy in 4ft at low water, springs. Charts, etc., affected: Admiralty chart No. 2521; New Zealand Pilot, seventh edition, 1901, chap, iy., pige 137. A barque, which may have been the Union Company’s recently-acquir-ed Loch Lomond, now thirty-four da vs out with a coal cargo from Newcastle. was sighted in Cook Strait by the schooner Falcon! on Sunday, August 9. , At the time there was a southerly gale, before which the barque was running. She is described as having painted ports, and in that respect she answers to tho Loch Lomond. There has been a good deal of southerly weather since the vessel was sighted, and it is not surprising that she has not yet shown up, if she was the Union Company’s barque. BY TELEGRAPH.
