SYDNEY, August 24. Two hundred thousand people witnessed the review of naval and military forces at Centennial Park of 14,000 men and cadets, under arms, including 2000 American sailors and marines. . Lord Northcote, Sir Harry dawson, Admiral Sperry, the other admirals, Mr. Deiikin, and sixteen captains of the American ileet were present at the saluting base. The review was the finest seen in Australia. The troops, after the review, marched through the Sydney streets, which were thronged by hundreds of thousands of spectators. Glorious weater enhanced wliat was a brilliant spectacle. A great bo it race between the champion crew from the Louisiana and a dozen of the Illinois’ beet-men for a stake of 28,000 dollars was rowed .across the Heads from near Manly to Clark Island, a distance of 34 •miles. Each ship contributed 14,000' dollars. The Illinois crew got away first, but the Louisiana crew, rowing better, drew level in the first (jutr-ter-mile, and at the mile had a six lengths advantage, eventually winning by 20 lengths.
