IN BANKRUPTCY.
The Deputy-Official Assignee has received the following statement from Mr. Samuel Burton, veterinary ‘surgeon, who has been declared 'bankrupt: ‘‘l am a veterinary surgeon, and have been temporarily employed by the Government, continuously! for the past 18 months or thereabouts. For two years prior thereto I was engaged in private practice in the Palmerston North district. Most of that practice was undertaken by me for work under the control of the Farmers’ Union Veterinary Association. For the previous three years 1 was in the Government emplov. When I started practice in Palmerston Nprth I was solvent. When practising in that district I became indebted to various creditors, whose claims I was unable to meet owing to the difficulty experienced in recovering my book debts, and owing to the agreement I had entered into with tlie Association precluding me during my second year with that body from successfully carrying out my private practice. As a_ result I left Palmerston xprtli, leaving debts in that locality to the extent of about £350. Since then I have, been harassed by my Palmerston North creditors, and it is owing to this pressure that, under the advice of my solicitor, I have found it necessary to file. Should I succeed in retaining my present position, I am prepared to pav off niv liabilities at the rate of £5 nor month,“ Tlie unsecured creditors in the estate are:—Palmerston North creditors: Nash and Co., grocers, £3O; E.
