SYDNEY, August 23. Twenty thousand spectators witnessed tho Britishers last match. In the first half tho visitors did better than tho local men in the scrums and lino-out, but the excellent tackling of tho Welshmen prevented tho British from scoring. Gavin got over for New South Wales, but Kenna failed to add the extra points. During a scrum some disagreeable tactics were witnessed on both sides, booting and punching being glaringly visible. The scrapping ended in a prominent player on each siilo having a standup spar for a few seconds. In the second half the visitors did some fine dribbling work, carrying play ill this manner to tho Welsh line. Gibbs scored a rather tamo try, but failed to convert it. With tlio scores level, off-side play by Dibble in his own twenty-five gave Now South Wales a chance, and Kenna secured a, goal. “Polity” Jones almost levelled matters up again with the run of the day." The Welshmen, however, kept their opponents off until the whistle sounded, the filial scores being: Now South Wales G, Britain 3. The game was punctuated with drenching torrents of rain.
