The wood-chopping eonte.t, winch was held at Kaitaratahi on Satuiday. was largely attended, and a. good deal of interest .was taken in the event. The Maiden Chop, 1 foot-logs, was woh'by Alartih Williams, with a ldseo handicap, in ; 42 seconds, Bnkett iQsec being second. Fifteen men competed; The Handicap .Chop was won from scratch bv R. Williamson in ot seconds, ; W. Wilson lOsec being riec--fijfd. Nineteen mop competed.
