PREPARATIONS FOR OPENING

A mooting of the Garrison Hall Executive Committee was hold at the Farmers’ Union Club rooms last evening, Captain Beere in the chair. A letter was received from Professor Borzonni stating that ho would stage one of his displays, entitled “The birth of the Empire,” during February. A sub-committee,, consisting of Lieut. Mitchell, Messrs Kennedy and Darton, and Lieuts. It was further resolved that the veterans he asked to assist in making the ball a success. There was a good attendance at a subsequent meeting of the General Committee, Captain Beere in the chair.

The following names were added to the sub-committees appointed at the mooting on July 30tli, for the purpose of making arrangements for the opening ball : —Refreshments — Quarter-Master Sergt. Williams, Sergeant Oates, and Mr. Miller. Decoration —Captain Ferris, Scrgt.Witters, Messrs S. Breingan, F. Lowndes, Spurdle, Morris, and A. Thomson. Floor—Messrs Sawyer, Young, and do la Croix. Dressing Room-—Ser-geants Bait and A. Beere, Private Hingston. .Doors—Sergeant-Major Kinder, Sergt. Fairlie, Corporal Hughes, and Trooper Haapu. Music —Bandmaster McKillop. All sub-committees are to bo under tlio control of a member of the Executive, who will convene meetings whon it is found necessary, and each sub-committee may add to its numbers if required.
