ALLEGED THEFT.
ACCUSED BEFORE THE COURT. REMAND UNTIL MONDAY. The young man, dailies Dante, who is alleged to be the person who committed the theft from a hoardingluvuso in Lowe street on Monday afternoon, was brought bclorc Mr \V. A Barton, S.M., at tho Magistrate’s Court yesterday morning mid charged with that lie did, on August 17th, break and enter the house of Mrs White, in Lowe street, and commit the theft ol a pair of pants and braces, and a sum of money. , r Sergeant Hut-ton applied for a remand on the ground that he wished to obtain a witness trout the country. On being asked if lie had any objection to tho remand, -the accused replied, “I. am pleased with that, as I would like to gel a solicitor.” A remand until lho 21th mst. was granted. A further charge was preferred against accused of having, on July 2(51 h, 1908, committed the theft of a tin trunk, containing wearing apparel lo the value of £5, the pro--1 of Win. Burnett of Whatatutu. A similar remand was granted m this case.
