ENQUIRIES AT TOURIST BUREAU
American appreciation. [Press Association.] AUCKLAND. August 19. The local Government’ Tourist Bureau has experienced an exceptionally busy week. “M e have had a great excess over the ordinary number of e.illers.” said Mr. C. NY. Allnutt. officer in charge, to-day. He stated that there was a considerable number of American officers from the fleet to make enquiries in regard to the Dominion as a place of settlement. Borne spoke of making a start on laud in New Zealand, returning here after their period of service had expired. They wished to ascertain all particulars concemtng the prices and classes of laud, and the chances of commencing for themselves with a certain capital. Inquiries were also instituted as to the best parts of the Dominion for settlement.
