BATHURST-SYDNEY RACE. United Press Association. Copyright (Received August 16, 7.45 p.m.) SYDNEY’, August 15. Tlie weather was fine for the Batli-urst-Sydney road race, anil tho roads were in good condition, but the riders had to contend against strong head winds all tlie way. Three hundred spectators assembled at Bathurst when tlie- first man left at seven in the morning, and 10,000 witnessed the* finish at Ashfield. lliere were 98 starters. Turner, who had 48 minutes’ start, finished first, covering the distance of 133 j miles in 8 hours 4 minutes. Patterson, with 42 minutes’ start, was second, taking 8 hours 14 minutes 53. seconds, llyslop, with 52 minutes’ start, was third, takings hours, 24 minutes 41 seconds. La r combe (scratch), who finished ninth, put up the fastest time, < hours 53 -minutes 40 seconds. He was leading at Pendritli, but tired towards the finish. Keefe (lasniama), with 20 minutes’ start, obtained the second fastest time, 7 hours, 57 minutes Summers (New Zealand) finished in tho ruck.
