ENTERTAINMENTS.

FANIv THORNTON’S FAREWELL. Tho capacity of His Majesty s Theatre should be taxed this evening on the occasion of Mr. Thornton initiating his farewell season in Gisborne. He appears in the name part of “Charley’s Aunt,”, “from Brazil, where the nuts come from,” a character that he alone is able to pourtray to tho letter. The revivals of this hilarious comedy have been more successful on his present tour than ever was the case previously. None should miss seeing Air. Thornton on the occasion, as from this out ho retires, after finishing the tour. To-morrow another comedy equally as laughable will be presented, viz., “Facing theMusic.” This farcical comedy is preceded by a one-act play entitled “Clause Six,” and on Friday, t 0 finally hid farewell to Gisborne, he appears as the Rev. Robt. Spalding, the “Private Secretary,” a character in which he has appeared close on 1300 times. Mr. Thornton is the only “Private Secretary,” for it is admitted oil all sides that no artist was over able to emulate Mr. Thornton in this impersonation. The plans for the season are open at Miller’s.

The next quarter of the woodwork class at tho technical school commences this evening at 7.
