Some anxiety is being felt regarding the non-appearance of the Union Co.’s Hawea from Newcastle. She left the latter' port on last Monday week and is now considerably overdue.. No advice as -to her whereabouts has been received, and it was at first thought that she might be sheltering along the coast from the gale, but on the other hand if this had been the case there is no doubt she would have been reported. Fears are not yet entertained for the safety of the Hawea, but is considered probable that sbe may have met with a misbap to bet machinery. BY TELEGRAPH. LONDON, August 8.
