A campaign in support of “no drink between, meals” lias been inaugurated jp Greatvßritain. No fewer than 200,000 people have already signed this semi-teetotal pledge. Members solemnly promise to abstain from intoxicating liquor except at mid-day and everting Annuls. The pledge, it is contended, is of special value to clerks, commercial travellers, managers, buyers, dealers, and till"'who arc engaged in business pursuits. Many who are not prepared to become teetotallers ■are glad to sign the semi-teetotal pledge, ,recognising that “nipping” and thtf systeip of. “standing treat” lead to heavy expenses and loss of health and are fruitful sources of intemperance.
