Many years ago (says our Wellington correspondent) the Maoris were in the liabit of wearing bone haircombs. A chief’s comb,-,.worn in a top-knot of the hair when dressed, ha 6 been added to the Colonial Museum. Usually there yas a liolp in the comb by which the feathers were attachod. The Icomh ip question came from the ltotorun. district. These combs are now extremely rare, but, according to old pictures and engravings, they were at one time common.
