Mr. A. Clark', representing Mr. Frank Thornton’s Comedv Company, arrived in Gisborne by the Waikare yesterday morning, and leaves for Auckland by the Flora this morning.

Mr. Norman Mail* (late manager for Messrs Hoadley and Co., Gisborne), who met with a motor car accident at .Hawke’s Bay a short time ago, is stHl lying in the Napier Hospital in a precarious condition. 'The Rev. Thomas Spurgeon, of London, has cabled that, owing to illhealth, he will be unable to visit New Zealand for evangelistic work. Colonel A. W. 'Robin, C. 8., Chief of the General Staff, Colonel R. H. Davies, C. 8., Inspector-General of the Forces, and Colonel R. J. Collins, V.D., will represent the Council of Defence at Auckland during Fleet Week.
