STRONG GALES. SHIPPING DELAYED. [Press Association.] AUCKLAND, August o. The weather on the coast was very bad on Tuesday night, blowing a hard S.E. gale with a heavy sea and thick rainy weather. The Government steamer' 'J’utanekai, from Napier, had a hard time in tile Bay of Plenty, and was liove-to for about eight hours. The barque Daniel, which left Auckland for Sydney oil Monday, put back to port this morning owing to the severe weather conditions. The warm sunshine that was so pleasant early in the week was superseded by a heavy storm from the south-east that sob in last evening. Early in the morning, a heavy black cloud was seen on the horizon, and as it covered the s‘ky rain began to fall, -and a heavy sea rose. / The weather appears likely to he rough for some days.
