MONDAY, AUGUST 3. (Before Mr W. A. Barton, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. Oscar Neilson, for a third conviction within six months, was sentenced to 7 days’ hard labor in the Gisborne gaol. THEFT OF BOOTS. Tho young man Alexander Young who was charged with the "theft of “a pair of boots last week and who lias just completed a seven days sentence tor drunkenness, was brought up for sentence on the graver charge. Ho was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon, and o enter into a recoguizanco of £5. to do so. ILLEGALLY ON LICENSED PREMISES. Wm. 'Magee, alias Osborne, was charged with 'having been on tho pre9r+i° R Masonic Hotel on July being a person against whom a prohibition order had been issued. Defendant did not appear, and, after evidence had been given by Constable lratt, Frederick Hall and G. J. A. Johnstone, Sergeant Hutton handed. i» a long (list of convictions against Magee, -remarking that he was a hardened offender. His Worship inflicted tho maximum penalty of £5. with 7s costs or in default thirty days’ hard labor in tho Gisborne gaol.
