A WELLINGTON LAND DEAL.
A COMPLICATED TRANSACTION. [SrECiAL to “Times.”] WELLINGTON, July 20. Correspondonco papers and plans routorating to transactions botwocri MacDonald, Wilson and Co., the City Corporation, the lion. T. K. MacDonald and the Government in connection with certain Lands nt the corner of Woodward Street and Wellington Terraco wore laid on t'lio table of the Houso of Representatives this afternoon. Tho appearance of the papers was tho signal for a discussion which lasted some time. During the course of the debato cortain allegations woro made and the Prime Minister promptly suggested that t'lie -whole matter should bo inquired into by n select committee. Mr Fisher said that the Government had boon misled, iand tho public of Wellington had been decoivod also. After tho papers had been laid on the table Sir Joseph Ward moved that they ho printed and referred to tho Lands Committee of tho House. Tho transaction, which has been the subject of groat local intorest for some time, is of a somowhat complicated nature.
