In connection with Arbor Day, further celebrations were' continued at the local High (School yesterday afternoon. Air. G. (E. Dart on gave a most interesting and •instructive address on the subject of “Heaves.” and the pupils of the school gave ah excellent’concert in aid of the Girls’ Hockey Club. There was a big muster of t-lie children, and a. great number of thear parents and friends were also present. Air. F. J. (Rowley (headmaster) introduced Air. Darton, who, in the course of his remarks, referred to what had already been done in the way of tree-planting .for both useful and ornamental purposes. To-day he wanted to tako them a step further, and put a new phase of nature studv beforc them; to study for the sake of tiie benefit they would get out of it. as a study. Air. Darton then went on to describe the wonderful functions of the 'leaves of trees andplants, concluding by an appeal to the children to. study the subject closely and; with interest. ‘Tliev would find a veritable storehouse of food in rile study of plants,' which would repay them greatly. At the conclusion of the address, winch was listened to most attentively by the children, Air. Rowley called for cheers for Air. Darton, which were Heartily given.
