APPROACHING COM PLETION. Tlio now Garrison Hall in Pitzlierbert Street lias' now been almostcovered in with corrugated iron, and this will permit the work ol completion proceeding apace, as the weather will not- stop the men from working, the inside only now remaining to bo finished off. A meeting of tlio representatives of tlie local bodies and citizens willing to form an executive committee for the management of the. ball lias been called for Wednesday evening next at the Farmers Club rooms. Tlio ball will be officially opened by a military ball early in October, and tin's will be succeeded by a series of .entertainments. By the Australian mail to hand yesterday Lieut. Hellier Evans received a reply from Signor Borzoi)i, who has been asked to provide a carnival in tlie hall to extend over a week, tlio dates suggested being from February 7th to 15th.' The proposed carnival will be on a most extensive scale. Professor Borzoni is at present in Broken' Hill (New South Wales) arranging a big entertainment, and in his letter states that lie will be able to reach Gisborne about the third week in December to take in hand the working-up of an extensive carnival on the dates mentioned. The writer states that bo will require the services of from 46 to 64 young ladies, a- special class of eight ladies and eight gentlemen, and also 32 to 48 girls of from 8 to 15 years of age, and 16 to 24 boys aged between 10 and 14 years.
