WOOL. United Press Association, Copyright . LONDON. July 16. At tho wool sales tlu> following were the average prices realised for tho fleece portions of the clips named:- Ngaio 7id, Longhorn 7|d. There was to-day a very spirited sale, with a hardening tendency for all descriptions. i The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., reports on Matawhoro stock sales held last Thursday, as follows': —The attend-, 'ance was about’up to the average, and although a considerable quantiJ ty of stock was prevented by the wea- :» ther from being yarded, yet for .the timo of -the year the yardings in Loth departments were fairly good. Sheep: We yarded 2783, and sold 1989 under fair competition. For all serviceable lines of sheep there was a. fair demand. Fats also appeared to be required, but the majority coming forward for the fat pens were not. sufficiently well finished, to attract the butchers’ attention.. Empty ewes' made from 7s to 9s Id according to condition, forward ewes to 10s 6d, fat owes, hut not too well finished, 12s 3d to 12s 6d. Hoggets 8s lid to 9s, these, howovor, were a small entry, two-tooth wethers 12s 6d. Pigs: There was a better demand. Porkers made from 19s to 21s, and

weaners from Os to 11s. Cattle: We had only a small entry. Sixty-three were penned, of which 44 sold , a t fair prices. There was a good demand for young steers, and tlieso brought improved rates.
