HAWKE’S BAY SEAT. THE OPENING SHOT. [Press Association.] NAPIER, July 13. ■Mr. G. Spencer Clapham, a candidate for the Hawke’s Bay seat, addressed a meeting of electors at Hastings to-night, and declared himself a supporter of the Government. The senior member of the Hastings Borough Council took tlio chair, as the Mayor of the town (Mr. T. J. Thompson) is himself a candidate. There was i large attendance, and Mr. Clapham received a vote of thanks and confidence.
