AUCKLAND, July 10. At a meeting of Ardmore residents held to consider resolutions submitteu by the Clevedon branch of the Farmers’ Union with regard to the for- ' niation of a Farmers’ Party in -Parliament, Captain Colbeck, vice-presi-dent of the Clevedon branch, deliv-'" ered an address, and a petition signed by a considerable number of farmers has been forwarded to the Union Executive at Wellington requesting the immediate formation of a Farmers’ Party in PaiCiament. 1 etitions to the same effect havo been issued by the Provincial Executive to <34 branches of tho TTuxm in all parts of the Dominion. The resolutions advanced by the Clevedon branch comprised the following planks:—Taxation for revenue purposes only; optional tenure of land; ratepayers only to be emuowered to vote on local government matters in County Couucils, Road Boards, and rural districts. WELLINGTON, July 10. Ihe Standard Oil Company’s busiliess in New Zealand is to bo truusferled from the Colonial Oil Company I to another company which will form part of the Standard Oil organisation system. Previously the business was transacted through local independent agents, acting as distributors, but now the company will have its own branches,in each centre. Tho supply of oil, cto., will not bo uffec- - ted, and the price?)? will, as heretolore, be regulated according to instructions from headquarters. DUNEDIN, July 10.
At tho inquest on the body of C. Stables, who committed suicide this morning, the jury returned a verdict of suicide while temporarily insane.
