[Special to “Times.'’] WELLINGTON, July 0. Discussing the Pawnbrokers’ Act Amendment Bill in the House tin’s afternoon,'- Mr. diarelay, member of North Dunedin, expressed himself iin favor of a. State pawnshop. Tlio. -suggestion was received with laughter, and Mr. Izard interjected: “With three golden balls on top.” Mr. Barclay, however, said there was a somewhat similar institution in France. ~ The Hon. Mr. McGowan freely admitted that this would be a step in the right direction, although he did not think the time, had yet arrived for such a departure.
