MR LLOYD-GEORGE’S DESPONDENCY. DWINDLING REVENUES AND DEPRESSED TRADE. United Press Association, Copyright (Received July 5, 4.30 p.m.) LONDON, July 4. Air. Lloyd-George, speaking at the Mansion- House banquet' to bankers and merchants, said that with a stunning deficit, dwindling revenues, and depressed trade, he was in- no mood for jesting, though tho . depression was not confined to Britain. Everything was diminishing except the demands on the Treasury. Apparently there was a regular conspiracy to rob tho Exchequer. He greatly doubted if the country was getting value for the old age pensions. The cost,would he £30,000,000, instead of £7,000,000.
