The scow Guniiet sailed yesterday for Tairua to load logs. * Messrs Richardson and Co.’s T tinny is due here on Tuesday morning from Napier, returning the same evening. The auxiliary schooner lvereru is loading manure for -Auckland, and will probably sail for that port today. Crptain Lacey has transferred from the s'.g. Tarawera to take command of tho s.’s. Alitchclson chief steward. ■During her recent overhaul at Port C-halmers the Alonowai had Cumberland's patent electrodes fitted to her boilers and water tanks. It is understood that should they prove a success on the' Monowai, they will be fitted to others of the company’s vessels. The object of this invention is to counteract the corrosive effects cf water on the plates, vliieh is thereby transferred to the iron electrodes', which are, of course, easily renewed l .
