Five were bound over in "two securities of £25 to keep the peace for one year, in- default three months’ imprisonment. One was bound over in £lO to keep the peace for six months,! and one was discharged. .. ." Lord Russell, defending" ono, contended that tlieir opinions regarding the franchise were tantamount to a religious belief entitling them to imprisonment as first division misdemeants.
The defendants elected to go to prison.
