July 3. !,' tsir ijEd.ivard Grey stated that the Persian troops which' surrounded tko British Legation at Teheran had been withdrawn. .The British Government required a written .guarantee of the (safety' of the lives and property of the refugees before they would quit the Legation, and in the case of those accused of crimo as distinct from political offences, assurances that they would have a fair trial whereat a member of tlio Legation would bo present. . The statement was received with cheers.
