FROZEN MEAT. Reporting on the London Frozen meat Market, Messrs. Wed del and Co., writing under date, London, May 22, state as pillows:—■ AlFtrON. Arrivals during the past fortnight amount to 174,310 carcases. Inc domaud for New Zealand mutton continues exceedingly slow. Mit h rathor heavier supplies available it has been impossible to maintain prices, and values of somo descriptions have got down to the level oi River Plato mutton. Canterbury mutton is none too plentiful, although quite sufficient for trade requirements, and commands about last quotations. Wo quote, 4Ad to occasionally 4*d lor 48 to 561b5., 4d to 4Jd for 56 to (541b*.; and 3RI to 3ifd for 61 to 721 b:.. North Island mutton, best quality is realising 3Sd to 3id for Email carcases, and other grades 3!d. to 3;d., according to weight. Second quality mutton is making 3j|d. and 3sd.. while ewes -are a slow salo at 31:1. to 3i. per lb. LAMBS. Arrivals during tho fortnight amount to 21,725 carcases from Australia. 317.146 carcases from New Zealand, and 9,896 carcases from River Plate. Helped by the warmer weather wo are now experiencing, the lamb trade at Siuithfielil lias been fairlv satisfactory, but tho provincial demand does not show much expansion. Arrivals from New Zealand have been heavy, and some consignees having been rather anxious to sell in order to prevent stocks from accumulating, prices are a shade easier, particularly for secondary descriptions. Prime Canterbury lambs tinder 421bs. are meeting with good inquirv, but for the 42 to 501 b. grade there is only a limited demand. Today’s values are steady at Sid. and o 9-16 d. per lb. for under 361b5., and o|d for 36 to 421bs. and 42 to oOlbs. Secondary Canterbury's are realising oil. and 5 l-16d. Tho demand, for North Island lamb is by no means brisk. Sales are being made at oil. to opt. for good quality, and down to 4Jd. for seconds. BEEF. During the fortnight 13,698 quarters have arrived from New Zealand, and 73,107 from River Plato. The trade for frozen beef has ruled very quiet,. Notwithstanding the scarcity anil higher prices of chilled beef.on improvement can be recorded either in price or demand for frozen beef. Prices are practically unchanged from those last recorded. [Press Association.] NAPIER, July 2. The Colonial Consignment and Distributing Company cable the following report on the frozen meat market: “To-day’s quotations: Canterbury mutton 4Jd, Napier. 'Wellington. and North Island 3UI :lamb. first quality, sjd. second fijil. Beef: Hindquarters 4jd, forequarters 2|d.” GOI.D EXPORTS. WELLINGTON, July 2. The export of gold from New Zealand for the past six months _ was 2-54,8150 z, of the value of £1,007,971. being an increase of 27,945’0z, valued at £101.552, as compared with. figures for the corresponding period of last year. During last month the Dominion exported 47,4160 z of gold, valued at £190,656, as against 26,7020 z, valued at £104,459 in June. 1907.
