The Commonwealth royoimo for the year is £15,014.000, an increase of £2,183,000. The expenditure m £6,106,000, an increase of £1,169,000. Tho amount returned to tho States is £8,859,000, an increase of £1,015,000.

AUCKLAND, Juno 30. MEW ZEALAND INDUSTRIES

A deputation of the joint, committee of the Industrial Association waited on the Mayor this morning to ascertain whether the town hall Kite would be available during fleet week for the purpose of erecting a building to carry out tho idea of having a eollectivo exhibition of Iso\v Zealand industries, siniiltaneoiisly with the shoe windows’ display, to bo made in the main 11 10 rough farce. The Mayor expressed himself in warm sympathy with the objects, and readily agreed to place the town hall section at- the disposal of tho .Association. In tho event. of a largo number of applications being received, provision has been made for another entrance to this building. The main entrance will he from Grey Street, and tho laud over and above what is required for the structure will bo available for tbo erection oi marquees for exhibits which may ho placed under’ canvas without tear of damage resulting. THE MAORI CONGRESS.

Mr. Ngata says that a number of important subjects would bo dealt with at the Maori conference which dnens in "Wellington on July 14. Tho business of tho conference Will be to discuss the Native Land question. local option to Maoris on the liquor traffic, the reinoyah of legislative distinction between pakeha and Maori, and tho matter of Parliamentary representation. Upon the decision of the Conference on these subjects, representations will be made to the House.

FLEET WEEK
