WESTPORT MURDER TRIAL
THE CASE PROCEEDING. A LENGTHY HEARING. [Press Association.] WESTPORT, June 29. The Westport murder case was continued at the Supreme Court on Saturday afternoon, a number of witnesses being examined for the defence. No material evidence was adduced, .tho testimony being mainly a repetition of that given at- the inquest and in the Lower Court. Mr, McDonald, a Westport solicitor, detailed an interview in tho goal between accused Halinen and Anderson and Haakonson, who was with them on the night of tho tragedy. NELSON, June 29.
The trial of. Olaf Halinen and Anderson for the murder at Westport on May Bth of Ernest John Bourke was continued at the Supreme Court to-day, when evidence for the defence was given by a number of witnesses, being mainly of a corroborative nature. The hearing of the evidence has now extended over six days and is still unfinished. It is expected that the remaining witnesses will be disposed of to-morrow.
