Wallace, tlie footballer, wrote to the New Zealand Rugby Union asking its assistance in raising a testimonial' to that player, which he thought would realise £IOOO. Me offered to give £3. One speaker said he had good reason for stating that Wallace would not accept a tes-, timonial. The Union decided to reply that it couJd not entertain the suggested proposal. THE BRITISH TOUR.
