LONDON, Juno. 24. Tho House of Commons considered tho Old Ago Pensions Bill in coinmitMr. G. S. Bowles moved an amendment that, tlio pensions should only bo paid whilst tho ponsiouor remained in tho United Kingdom. Mr. Balfour nnd Mr-. Chamberlain, maintained that pensioners ought to bo allowed to go to places oversea whoro their friends lived. Mr. Lloyd-Georgo explained that tho Government desired tho pensions to he payable on tho same conditions as prevailed in the colonics, namely, while the claimant resided in the colonies, absence for a brief period would not cause forfeiture. Earl Beaehanip opposed tho Bill. Viscount Ginterbury urged the ventilation of the subject before legislation was adopted. Lord Lansdowne said it was impossible to accept the Bill in its present form. The Bill was withdrawn.
